PLC #SwachhtaMonitorThe Requirement

Since the beginning of Mission Swachh Bharat 2014, and even before that, we have been spreading awareness regarding “Swachhta”, convincing people about importance of cleanliness as well as ill effects of unclean surroundings through one-on-one contact, through rallies etc. Yet; many areas and many streets at all places look littered and unclean. This is despite tons of garbage getting collected and cleared by municipal workers regularly. Littering streets and spitting carelessly is one of basic social misconducts; and the basic reason of surroundings getting unclean. It appears like this is a deep-rooted habit in many of us even after spending huge amounts for various “awareness” programs and cleanliness drives.

Littering and spitting keeps happening; because nobody bothers to even “point-out” this mistake done by anybody. Reasons – Several, but commonly “क्यों टोकना, पंगा हो सक्त है”. The young generation also will adopt this attitude. If they are not told to stop anybody from careless spitting or littering at their young age, they will not appreciate anybody stopping them as they grow up. If nobody bothers to stop this social misconduct; many people will continue carelessly spitting and littering, unknowingly or knowingly.

We have been striving and longing for Swachh Bharat. For years our activities have been

1) Gathering people for symbolic activity of cleaning areas; or actually cleaning up areas. However with careless spitting and littering not even getting pointed out, together we will keep letting it get dirty from the next day. How long should this continue?

2) Making children “messengers” for cleanliness and having them take oaths for “Swachhta”. But nobody ensures that careless spitting or littering actually gets pointed-out. How long will we turn a “blind eye” toward people who carelessly spit and litter?

3) Making children participate in drawing, elocution and such competitions, which practically makes no difference to the cleanliness situation. Practically everybody knows what is wrong, the why not do practical activities that will make an immediate visible difference?

So Now Is The Time To Focus On Something That Will Be Practical, Make A Visible Difference;
And Of Course, Doable Easily.

“No Gyan”, Just point-out mistake, request to rectify – EVERYTIME
